American Heritage School is a private, college preparatory, independent, nonsectarian, and co-educational day school for grades Pre-K 3 through 12 with approximately 2,800 students and a student/faculty ratio of 8:1. The campus is located in Plantation, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale.

The school was first established by William R. Laurie in 1965. American Heritage is also known as AHS, or simply "Heritage". It is a tuition-only school which does not ask for nor accept donations. The school is managed by educators, and has no governing board. Faculty and staff children receive full tuition at the school.

American Academy



American Academy is a related, but separate, school located on the campus of American Heritage School. The Academy was founded as a college preparatory school for advanced students with mild learning differences. 100% of the students who graduate from American Academy are accepted into 4-year colleges and universities. It also has a more 1 on 1 teaching experience which is better for kids who suffer from attention disorders.

Facilities



American Heritage School has a 40-acre campus in Plantation. Facilities include investigative science labs headed by Ph.D. research scientists, engineering and robotics labs, media centers, a mock courtroom, outdoor environmental classrooms with a certified wildlife habitat, a Center for the Arts, an Olympic-size pool, sports fields, and courtyards.
