The New Castle School of Trades was founded in 1945 and since its inception, the schoolâs purpose has been to train its students in various skilled trades. The New Castle School of Trades is dedicated to the principal that vocational training should be directed to the needs of the individual, the community, and the nation's employers. Experienced instructors simulate an environment that lends itself to the development of job skills. Training programs at the New Castle School of Trades are practical and "hands-on".
In 1973, NCST earned accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATTS). This accreditation means that the school has met certain standards of quality for the education that it provides, as NATTS is recognized as the accreditation authority in its area of expertise by the U.S. Department of Education.
In 1982, NCST was approved to award the associate degrees in Specialized Technology by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Those Associate Degreed programs are - Automotive Technology, Refrigeration Technology, Machinist Technology, Building Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance with Wind and Solar Technology, and Diesel / Power Generation Technology.
In 2011, NCST acquired a second location at 4117 Pulaski Road New Castle, Pennsylvania. The previous location is still in use for four programs: Commercial Truck Driving, Motorcycle and Power Equipment Technology, Diesel/ Heavy Equipment Repair/ Generator Technology, and Heavy Equipment Operations.

Admissions Requirements
Individuals who possess a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma wishing to enter any program at NCST must pass an entrance examination and will participate in a personal interview through which an admissions representative will make a sound appraisal of a prospective enrollees request for admittance. Applicants must have the willingness to work within the schools policies and procedures. Applicants for admission are accepted without regard to race, creed, sex, color, age, or national origin.
Veterans
The New Castle School of Trades is approved for the training of eligible veterans. In 2015 The New Castle School of Trades was once again recognized as a GI Friendly School.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available for those who qualify.
Job Placement Assistance
The New Castle School of Trades also provides an active job placement assistance office whose services are free to all graduates of the school.
