School History

Michael Reiner Biopic - This is a segment about Michael Reiner, the former teacher at the Long Island School for the Gifted who is accused of child pornography.

Long Island School for the Gifted was founded in 1980 by Carol Yilmaz. Her mission was to bring more advanced education onto students who felt like they were not being challenged enough in school. Along with other members known as the "founding mommies", LISG was a reality. It did not reside on 165 Pidgeon Hill Road until the start of the 1984 school year. Since then, LISG has become one of the most advanced schools on Long Island, where Alumni have gone to Ivy League colleges and have won numerous awards.
